The Miracle of The Resurrection
The resurrection of Jesus Christ stands as the ultimate miracle that transforms every aspect of our existence. Through John chapter 20, we encounter Mary Magdalene's journey from grief to joy, from fear to faith, and from death to life. Her early morning visit to the tomb reveals something profound about our own spiritual journeys. She arrived with plans to anoint a dead body, but Jesus had other plans entirely. This teaches us that when Jesus is absent from our plans, they may not work as we expect. The carefully folded face cloth in the empty tomb wasn't just a detail—it was Jesus declaring that death could not hold Him. No grave robber left such evidence; this was divine power on display. The resurrection calls us beyond intellectual belief into a transformative faith that recognizes Christ's voice calling our name, reorients our entire life toward Him, and repurposes us for His mission. When Jesus appeared to His fearful disciples, He didn't shame them for hiding or denying Him. Instead, He spoke peace—shalom—over their fear. This is the same peace available to us today. The resurrection doesn't just offer us forgiveness for our past; it breathes new life into our present and future. It transforms our fear of failure, our anxiety about the future, and our grief over what seems dead in our lives. The question we must answer is this: Will we respond with dead belief that remains theoretical, or with resurrection belief that follows, is formed by, and moves forward with Jesus on His mission?
