Jesus is The Bread of Life
This powerful exploration of John 6:25-40 challenges us to examine what we truly hunger for in life. The passage reveals a crowd following Jesus not because they recognized Him as the Messiah, but because He fed them physically. How often do we approach God the same way, seeking temporary comfort rather than eternal transformation? Jesus declares Himself as the bread of life, exposing our tendency to chase things that can never truly satisfy us. We work for promotions, validation, financial security, and comfort, all while missing the deeper spiritual hunger within our souls. The Israelites in the wilderness complained about being hungry, even saying slavery in Egypt was better because they had meat, forgetting that the price was their very freedom. Similarly, we often cling to our bondage to bad habits, unforgiveness, and worldly pursuits while asking God for temporary relief instead of lasting freedom. The central message is clear: Jesus is not offering us another miracle or temporary fix. He is offering us Himself. When He says whoever comes to Him will never hunger or thirst, He is speaking to our souls' deepest need for salvation, transformation, and eternal life. The question before us is not simply what we want from Jesus, but whether we recognize what Jesus says we truly need.
