Miracle of His Living Word
This powerful exploration of John chapter 4 challenges us to examine the very foundation of our faith: do we truly trust God's word, or are we constantly seeking signs and miracles? The message draws a striking contrast between the Samaritans who believed Jesus was the Savior of the world based solely on His word, and the Galileans who needed to see miracles before they would follow Him. At the heart of this teaching is the second sign in John's Gospel—the healing of the royal official's son—where Jesus doesn't physically touch the dying child or even travel to see him. Instead, He simply speaks: 'Go, your son will live.' The official faces a profound choice: will he trust Jesus' word enough to walk the 20-mile journey home without any visible proof? This story becomes a mirror for our own spiritual lives. How often do we come to Jesus with our expectations already mapped out, telling Him exactly how to fix our problems? We want Him to come with us, to do things our way. But genuine faith means trusting His word even when it doesn't meet our expectations, even when we can't see the results, even when the journey feels impossibly long. The difference between welcoming Jesus for what He does and accepting Him for who He is becomes the dividing line between temporary, conditional faith and committed, eternal faith.
