Our Rejection of Jesus

What does it really mean to believe in Jesus? There is a difference that cuts right to the heart of our faith: the difference between acknowledging Jesus and actually believing in him. Drawing from John 12:37-43, we are confronted with two unsettling groups of people -- those who witnessed miraculous signs firsthand and still walked away, and those who believed in their hearts but refused to confess it publicly out of fear. Both groups, in the end, rejected Jesus. The central lesson is both simple and sobering: acknowledging Jesus as a fact of history, or even as a spiritual reality, is not the same as entrusting our lives to him. Just as a driver can see a stop sign and blow right through it, we can know the truth about Jesus and still live as though it means nothing. The message challenges us to examine whether our daily actions -- how we handle anxiety, provision, relationships, and identity -- actually reflect a life surrendered to Christ, or simply one that knows the right words.
