Jesus Steps Into Our Suffering

What does it look like when God meets us in our darkest moments? In John 11, we find ourselves standing alongside Mary as she rushes to Jesus in the aftermath of her brother Lazarus's death. This passage pulls back the curtain on something profound: Jesus is not a distant problem-solver who swoops in to fix things from afar. He is a compassionate Savior who steps directly into our grief and weeps with us. Mary's instinct to fall at Jesus's feet the moment she sees him is more than an emotional reaction. It is a pattern, a spiritual posture she carries through every season of her life, high and low alike. Her example challenges us to ask ourselves an honest question: where do we actually run when life falls apart? Do we reach for distractions, substances, or self-reliance, or do we run to the feet of Jesus? The invitation here is clear. No matter what we are carrying, Jesus welcomes us, understands us, and is not overwhelmed by what overwhelms us.
